Dental Implants in Dania Beach, FL
An implant is only as good as the plan behind it. Dania Beach patients come to board-certified periodontist Dr. Tamara Rojas at 5000 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, where every implant is mapped on a 3D scan of your jaw before a single instrument touches your mouth.
Planned in 3D first
What happens before your implant is placed.
The 3D image shows the height, width and density of bone where the tooth is missing — details a flat x-ray can hide.
If there is enough bone, the implant can be planned straight away. If not, a graft comes first so the implant has something solid to hold.
With the 3D plan, some implants can be placed without cutting and lifting a flap of gum, which our patients find means quicker healing and less discomfort.
You see the scan, the timeline and the estimate before you decide. Our office manager checks your insurance and files the claim.
One tooth, several teeth, or a whole arch.
The scan also tells us which design makes sense for you. These are the options Dr. Rojas plans most often.
Single-tooth implant
One post and one crown. The teeth on either side are left untouched, unlike a traditional bridge.
About dental implantsImplant-supported bridge
Two or more implants carry a bridge that fills a longer gap, so natural teeth stay intact.
Multiple-tooth optionsTeethXpress® full arch
Implant-supported teeth for patients missing most or all of their upper or lower teeth.

When a failing tooth is still in place, it is removed gently and the site is prepared for the implant.
Tooth extractionsThe part of the implant you never see.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a tooth root. An abutment connects it to the visible crown, bridge or denture. Cleveland Clinic describes the same three parts — post, abutment and restoration — and notes that you need enough healthy jawbone for the post to hold. (Cleveland Clinic: Dental Implants)
That is why the scan matters so much. Mayo Clinic explains that if bone has to be grafted, it may take several months for the graft to grow enough new bone to support an implant, and that the jawbone then needs several months to bond to the implant surface. Minor grafts can sometimes be done during implant surgery. (Mayo Clinic: Dental Implant Surgery)
Knowing this from the first visit means fewer surprises. If your scan shows a graft is needed, you hear it on day one — not halfway through treatment. For anxious patients, every step can be done with nitrous oxide, oral or IV sedation, which Dr. Rojas is certified to provide.
Dania Beach and Hollywood are both cities in Broward County (Broward County municipal directory). We also see implant patients from Hallandale Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the other communities on our service areas page.
Dania Beach patients ask us
Why do I need a 3D scan before an implant?+
A regular x-ray is flat. The cone beam CT scan shows the quality and quantity of bone in three dimensions, so the implant size and angle are chosen from measurements instead of estimates.
Can an implant be placed without cutting the gums?+
Sometimes. When the 3D scan shows enough bone in the right place, Dr. Rojas can place the implant without lifting a gum flap. Whether that is possible for you depends on your scan, and she will tell you at the consult.
What if the scan shows I don’t have enough bone?+
A bone graft can rebuild the area first. Larger grafts need several months to mature before the implant goes in; smaller ones can sometimes be done at the same visit as the implant.
Do I have to see a periodontist, or can my regular dentist place it?+
General dentists, oral surgeons, periodontists and prosthodontists may all place implants. Dr. Rojas is a board-certified periodontist, a specialty focused on the gums and bone that hold teeth and implants. Many patients still have their own dentist make the final crown.
What is titanium, and is it safe in the body?+
Implant posts are made of titanium because jawbone bonds to its surface, a process called osseointegration. Tell us about any metal allergies or medical conditions at your consult so we can review them before planning.
